Like in many other countries in the world, pollution is becoming an increasingly pressing concern in Italy with pollution linked to various health issues. Homes in increasingly crowded urban areas are the most vulnerable, although people living in the countryside are also no longer immune to the impact of pollution.
With temperatures expected to become more extreme due to climate change, Italian consumers will likely make increasing use of air conditioners in spring and summer. This, together with heating during winter, is forecasted to raise concerns about electricity consumption, with energy prices likely to remain high, at least in the early part of the forecast period.
The demand for air conditioners has been supported by the presence of the government’s aforementioned Superbonus Scheme. However, with the government starting to restrict eligibility in 2023 and with tax detraction rates being reduced to 70% in 2024 and 65% in 2025 the impact of this scheme is expected to soften.
