Looking ahead, the forecast period is poised to witness a sustained emphasis on health and wellness among consumers, precipitating a discernible shift towards beverages perceived to be “healthier” alternatives. This evolving consumer sentiment is anticipated to catalyse demand for lower alcohol drinks, thereby fuelling growth within RTDs, particularly those offering a clear lower alcohol content.
Against this backdrop, ongoing innovation is expected to emerge as a cornerstone of market expansion and differentiation, as industry players seek to broaden their consumer base and redefine the perception of RTDs. The introduction of new products, characterised by unique positioning and attributes, is poised to invigorate consumer interest and foster category growth.
In tandem with shifting consumer preferences and market dynamics, the forecast period is anticipated to witness a notable surge in the prominence of e-commerce as a preferred distribution channel for alcoholic beverages. Major companies, including Mercado Libre, Coto, Jumbo, and La Anonima, are expected to intensify their investments in e-commerce platforms, bolstering product portfolios and enhancing delivery mechanisms to cater to evolving consumer expectations.

RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
