Cheese will see an improved performance in terms of retail volume growth over the forecast period, as inflationary pressures begin to ease and consumers are able to spend more money on non-essential foods. However, this will be a gradual process, as Slovaks will remain budget-conscious.
Speciality cheese products will see greater consumer interest, especially varieties for grilling or baking. This trend will be boosted by further investment in new product development, with Tami, for example, having launched Ostiepok na Gril in hard cheese towards the end of the review period.
Health-orientated varieties of cheese will see a growing interest among Slovak consumers, alongside improving dietary education. Lactose-free dairy-based cheese products will see a rising demand, although this will be constrained by both the development of plant-based cheese (following improvements to taste and texture), as well as cheese products which are naturally lactose-free (such as parmesan).
