In particular, the strong preference for e-commerce among younger consumer groups will only gradually have an effect on the entire retail landscape.
Pet care e-commerce grew remarkably strongly in the review period. This was also strongly supported by the successful online stores of Zooplus, a pure online player, and Fressnapf, which builds its success primarily on its large store network.
Online pharmacies is another format that is likely to see above-average growth in the forecast period. In medication, e-commerce is limited to OTC medication, which accounted for around a third of all sales of pharmacies in Austria at the end of the review period and has been permitted in this form in Austria for less than 10 years.
