Despite the fact that innovation within the category will remain limited, beer in Egypt will manage to achieve continued growth in volume terms throughout the forecast period. While the price of beer will increase, consistent with the trend in other categories, consumers unlikely to reduce their thirst for the product, thanks to its status as the most affordable and accessible of alcoholic beverages.
During the forecast period, the health and wellness trend will gain momentum in Egypt, as consumers pay more attention to their wellbeing. This will present a challenge for beer players, as many individuals consider alternative beverages such as soft drinks, to be a healthier option.
The competitive landscape for beer in Egypt is expected to remain stable over the forecast period, with ABC set to remain the dominant player. In the past, Egy Bev had introduced various beer brands, only for ABC to step in and acquire them, as was the case with Sakkara.

Beer
An alcoholic drink usually brewed from malt, sugar, hops and water and fermented with yeast. Some beers are made by fermenting a cereal, especially barley, and therefore not flavoured by hops. Alcohol content for beer is varied – anything up to and over 14% ABV (alcohol by volume), although 3.5% to 5% is most common. Beer is the aggregation of lager, dark beer, stout and non/low alcohol beer.
