Consumers prefer to buy fragrances, especially premium brands, from trusted beauty specialist retailers as there are a lot of copycat brands in the fragrances category in Colombia. Direct selling through brands such as Yanbal and Belcorp gained traction through e-commerce.
Young consumers are increasingly interested in more affordable imitation brands, with a growing dupe culture driven partly by TikTok’s role as a valuable marketing tool, with a growing number of TikTok influencers launching videos comparing premium or prestige ranges with their cheaper counterparts. These affordable alternatives could pose a threat to premium ranges during the forecast period, as consumers realise that they can replicate their favourite scents for a fraction of the usual price.
The fragrances sector is set to see an expansion in the range of environmentally friendly formulae, recycled packaging and social commitment criteria for the production of perfumes during the forecast period. Creating simple designs with recycled and recyclable materials, organic alcohols, avoiding plastic and glass will gain in importance.

Fragrances
This is the aggregation of men's, women's and unisex mass and premium fragrances as well as fragrances sets/kits. The distinction between mass market and premium is normally price and label/positioning (mass fragrances rarely carry a designer label) and distribution. Also includes hair fragrances with a primary function of making hair smell good and not to be confused with hair oil and other styling/conditioning products with hair fragrances, whose primary function is to either condition or style over fragrance.
