Baked goods are poised to maintain steady growth throughout the forecast period, with bread continuing to be an indispensable part of Moroccan meals. Notably, the growth in this sector will be fuelled by artisanal and unpackaged bread and pastries.
Average unit prices are anticipated to exhibit an upward trajectory, primarily due to increasing raw material prices, including cereal commodity costs, and other production expenses such as energy, transportation, and workforce costs. Given the current adverse climatic conditions and a series of droughts, the local production of cereals is expected to decline.
The primary challenge to the growth of packaged baked goods is expected to be the continuous increase in the unit prices of raw ingredients, compounded by a persistent economic slowdown. This economic slowdown will compel mass consumers to alter their consumption habits, with a shift towards home-made pastries, cakes, or even baking their bread at home.

Baked Goods
This is the aggregation of bread, pastries, dessert mixes, frozen baked goods and cakes. Note: Baked goods from in-store bakeries are classified under unpackaged/artisanal, not packaged/industrial. While they may be finished on-site, they are often prepared, then frozen or par-baked, at other locations. Such production models are very important for supermarket in-store bakeries, which have in the past been used to drive traffic and fill stores with appetising aromas, but for which the labour resources required to run a full-service scratch bakery are not always available.
