As Taiwan's young consumers increasingly use social media attention, they enjoy experiencing new and visually appealing dessert shops. Newly opened establishments, if they offer well-designed and delicious products, can garner attention through social media sharing.
Consumer impulse purchases of baked goods are set to remain strong over the forecast period through on the go lifestyles, working outside the home and travel activities. This consumption behaviour is expected to benefit bakeries and grocery retailers located in easy to access locations; hence, retail offline is predicted to gain momentum, while retail e-commerce value growth stabilises.
The offer of authentic taste baked goods is expected to continue to grow as bakeries rapidly launch new products in a variety of tastes. This has become the new normal for baked goods players as they compete for increasingly sophisticated consumers.

Baked Goods
This is the aggregation of bread, pastries, dessert mixes, frozen baked goods and cakes. Note: Baked goods from in-store bakeries are classified under unpackaged/artisanal, not packaged/industrial. While they may be finished on-site, they are often prepared, then frozen or par-baked, at other locations. Such production models are very important for supermarket in-store bakeries, which have in the past been used to drive traffic and fill stores with appetising aromas, but for which the labour resources required to run a full-service scratch bakery are not always available.
